RESTAURANTS

On Koh Chang (Ko Chang) and most other island resorts, you can expect the
best of seafood with the freshest catch of the day.

On
the way to your hotel, it is almost certain you will pass by a large sign for
Che Eiw Seafood Restaurant. Located in Ao Sapparos, Che Eiw Seafood is a welcome
meal for many hungry on arrival. For local seafood specialties, try the Danmai
Seafood Restaurant and Fishing Park at the northeastern part of Koh Chang (Ko
Chang) near the police station. Here, you can literally fish for your meal
and pay for whatever you catch. Cooking it is free or if you'd not rather go fishing
for your meal, you can always order from the menu. At the southern end of the
island is the Salakphet Seafood Restaurant while the area of Bang Bao is littered
with good choices. As both Salakphet and Bang Bao are fishing villages, expect
fresh seafood at reasonable prices. You can choose off the menu as well or take
a look at the fish tank or basins to see what's available.

The
Salakphet Seafood Restaurant is built above the waters, giving the place a nice
ambience and a feel of being part of the fishing community lifestyle. There are
some Western food restaurants and local eateries along the main road such as the
02 Restaurant and bar at Kai Bae which serves vegetarian, Thai and international
cuisine, all MSG-free.

Iyara
Seafood is also a popular choice for many seafood lovers. An added treat that
the restaurant offers is the use of its pier to rent wooden boats belonging to
the local fisherman. After dinner, guests are guided into the quiet waters along
the mangrove forests to see fireflies set the trees alight like Christmas trees.

TonSai
or Banyan Tree is an experience worth having. Set on top of a banyan tree on White
Sand Beach, TonSai Home & Restaurant serves fusion cuisine in a laid-back
environment. After dinner, you can not miss Sabay Bar also located on White Sand
Beach. The area comes alive with people having snacks and drinks while listening
to a live Filipino band who plays everyone's favourite tunes. Also catch a fire
show as skillful performers create rings of fire and fire-twirling feats. On some
nights, you can catch the lighting of paper lanterns that slowly make their way
up into the night sky. Other than Koh Chang (Ko Chang), most resorts on
other islands include meals in their packages.
